Identifying old canoe - possibly Old Town? w/ partial serial

Sadly, these are the only photos I have of the canoe at this point. A gentleman in a nearby town is looking to sell it for $100, and I'm hoping to figure out a bit more about it before I decide if I want to attempt a restoration on it (it would be my first wood/canvas restoration, so quite the learning experience, but will definitely be a blast to do). Here's the two photos I have the canoe itself:

The seller managed to find one spot on the bow stem that has a number stamped. It is pretty faint, but it seems to be 127456 (see attached image). (The 1 may not be a 1? The 7 is my best guess from photos alone, but the -2-456 are pretty clear.) At the Wooden Boat forums, a couple users thought it looked like an Old Town, but the serial doesn't seem to end in the length of the boat, which I understand is how Old Town serials ended.

Any thoughts on identifying this poor gal?

Thanks! (My first post here, super excited to join the community!)

Pretty rough for a first restoration but definitely an OT. Probably Guide. length is first two digits separated from the rest.

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 127456 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, low end Yankee model with open spruce gunwales and a keel. It was built between April and May, 1939. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on June 5th, 1939 to Detroit, Michigan. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. The Old Town with serial number 27456 is a 17 foot long Otca model that shipped to Panama in 1913 so that probably isn't the correct build record for this canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have other questions.
