Just bought Old Town #115369 from a gentleman in Boone, NC. I think it is a OTCA from looking at pictures, but any help identifying and obtaining the build sheet would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks nice. Shipped to Asheville in 1935. Benson should be along shortly with the build sheet and details. Great find.

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 115369 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak thwarts, oak seats, a keel, and sponsons. It was built between January and May, 1935. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 17th, 1935 to Asheville, North Carolina as Todd indicated. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join, or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

This is amazing! Thank you! We are excited about the new toy. It needs some paint and clean up but is in remarkably good shape for being 88 years old.

Gave the canoe a quick makeover. The red paint was pretty dodgy, so a couple of coats of this lovely green did the trick. The bright work is in excellent shape, quick clean with some Murphy’s and she shined right up. Really excited about the new toy!

I did not get any history beyond his buying it somewhat locally. No idea what happened to the sponsons. Thanks, the color turned out great!
