Old Town number 160413 15. Just saved it from being a victum of mother nature. In a few more years, she wouldve been a gonner! Thanks in advance!

The Old Town canoe with serial number 160413 is a 15 foot long fifty pound model with rub rails. It was built between July and August, 1953. The original exterior paint color was probably similar to the image at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design45.gif and known as design number 45. It shipped on August 17th, 1953 to Grand Rapids, Michigan. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. Its got the original canvas(falling off) and has the remnants of rub rails. It has the original paint(no gold leaf design) but its #45 with the blue and white. Floor rack and mahogany rails(rotting). No evidence of a keel though, no screw holes either. Its got a thwart in the middle and has a carry thwart midway from the front seat to the deck, kinda an odd place. Anyhow, I'm with ya Jan, great boat to nose around Michigan rivers solo!! I still have your keel safe and sound in my garage.

Build record does say "no keel".
