Help with year?

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 236056 is a 17 foot long Otca model with a keel, a stem band along the full length of the keel, two painter rings, low ends like a Guide model, and a fiberglass covering in place of canvas. It weighed 88 pounds and was built between October and November, 1980. The original exterior color was green. It shipped on August 11th, 1982 to Brunswick, Georgia. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Page 12 of the 1982 catalog at https://www.woodencanoe.org/_files/ugd/537308_3ee7f04f7bb94410ae10ca9583509514.pdf has more details. The classifieds at https://www.woodencanoe.org/classifieds are are usually the fastest way to find a good new home for a canoe like this. The page at https://www.woodencanoe.org/ad-instructions has the instructions. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the sale,

Benson
