Help with Painting on Canvas Peterborough canoe

Got an amazing Peterborough canoe that is canvas wrapped. I have attached pictures the paint is pealing a little bit on the stem bands. Since this is my first canoe, I don't want to mess up the repair. I am hand and have tools, but don't want to start something with out first knowing what to do exactly. Can I get away with minor sanding without sanding the whole canoe? What grit sand paper do I use not to hurt the canvas? Then I will try to match the paint, but what kind of paint do I order online or get? Any help would be appreciated, and thank you in advance.

Best Ron

Those appear incredibly minor to me. Not worth the effort to paint match. Paddle it, and see if it leaks.

Agreed. But you could scrape the loose stuff, sand with 220 and paint. Even big box stores can match color if you got a chip to show them.
