Date/info on Old Town Otca(?)

Unfortunately, our canoe is 300 miles from here, so I am asking a question about it from memory. We bought over 40 years ago and it was elderly at the time, but I have never tried to check to see how old it actually is. It's a canvas and wood 18' model that looks like ads for the Otca in the "100 Years" book. I asked the man where it is stored to look at the serial and he came back with ROS46888 on the stern centerline rib and 46888 marked on the bow centerline. Any help on a date would be much appreciated.

Most likely a Penn Yan Rainbow and probably built in 1946. Double check the second letter - it should be a "C" if 17' and "E" if 18'.

Thanks so much, Dan. I'll try to get more information. We were told that it was an Old Town when we bought it years ago, but you know how that goes.
