Copy of Build Sheet

John M. Kimpel

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Good Evening;
I would like to acquire a build sheet for an Old Town AA-Octa with sponsons Serial #136147-18. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
John

Say "Hello" to Mimi Jo!

Hi John--

Looks like this is the right record, but if not we can try again:

Old Town 136147 is an 18 foot AA grade Otca built between September 1942 and April 1943. It has open mahogany gunwales and mahogany decks, thwarts, and seat frames (or perhaps the wartime slat seats?). It was fitted with a keel, floor rack, and sponsons, and canvassed with #10 (instead of the usual #8), and was painted dark green with the name "Mimi Jo" on the right and left bow. Is the name still there?

A copy of the scan is attached below. Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details.

Kathy;
Thanks for the Build sheet record and quick response. The name was no longer on the canoe, I think the canvas had been replaced. Thanks again for all the good work you folks do.
John:)
