The Carleton serial numbers stop in the low 20K range as shown at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/carleton/carleton_chart.html so my guess is that you may have an Old Town canoe that might have shipped as a Carleton although this was usually noted on the build record. The Old Town canoe with serial number 92798 is an 18 foot long, GS (Guide's Special or low) grade, Guide model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak thwarts, oak seats, and a keel. It was built between November, 1926 and July, 1927. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) slate. It shipped on July 7th, 1927 to Mahopac, New York. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below..
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. The messages at

http://classifieds.wcha.org/ are often one of the fastest ways to find a good new home for a canoe like this if you plan to sell it. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
