Looks like a 17' Carleton in CS Grade with oak seats, decks and thwarts, and a keel. It was originally painted Brillient Green. The shipping area is covered with return data, but I'm guessing that DOB on this boat is in 1942.
Made a couple of trips back home to Old Town for repairs as indicated on the back of the record.

The Carleton canoe with serial number 20471 is a 17 foot long, CS grade, Carleton model with open spruce gunwales and a keel. It was built between August, 1939 and March, 1940. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on May 16th, 1940 to Gimbels in New York City. It was returned for credit on September 18th, 1940 after being damaged in shipping. The back side of the card details the repairs and indicates that it was sold at a discount on March 11th, 1941. It appears to have been in Wappingers Falls, NY on July 26th, 1979 when the company answered a previous request for a copy of this build record. Well Mike, you tried hard and that deserves thanks. Benson does set a standard to be achieved - but he's been doing it longer than you.
