It went to the Fair...

Hi Dave--

Carleton 17574 is a 17 foot CS grade Carleton model with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch seats/thwarts/decks, fitted with a keel and outside stems. It was painted bright [I think] red with a black stripe with Greek ends and shipped to The Fair in Chicago on March 20, 1923. Verrrry Interrrresting....

The scan is attached. Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details.

I know you're a member in good standing, who plans to attend Assembly so I will see you there (will you be taking this canoe along?). Others reading this may want to seriously consider joining WCHA, or may wish to make a tax deductible contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA, http://www.wcha.org/wcha_video.php to watch a 10 minute video about WCHA and our programs and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

Kathy
