canvas burnoff

I just read the sheet that Roland sends with canvas and he says in there to NOT singe canvas that has been treated with mildewcide. He doesn't say why, does the mildewcide hold the fuzz down? This is the first I have heard of this and most surely will follow thru as he says, just wondering.

Most canvas mildewcides are arsenic compounds and the fabric will be saturated with them (as opposed to it being some sort of surface coating or treatment). I suspect that heating it and breathing any fumes that come off of it during the process might not be very good for you. It's also not a bad idea to wash your hands after messing with it, and before you stop for lunch and pick up that sandwich.
