Curious about Wooden Canoes
Mike, you were right. It wasn't '32306, it is '92306'. May I have the record for that one please. Also, still need to know where the SN is on 20 footers. We have two. And last, we also have a 23 footer. Where can I find the SN on that one? Thanks.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 92306 is an 16 foot long, CS grade, OTCA model with open spruce gunwales, birch decks and a keel. It was built between October 1926 and June 1927. The original exterior paint color was silver gray. Reference is made on the card that "Janice H" or something similar was painted on the right bow, it appears in gold and white. It shipped on June 30th, 1927 to Camp Paysock in Brooks, Maine. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan was created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join or renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

As far as serial number locations on the 20 and 23 footer; Old Town stamped all of their canoe serial numbers in the same place, on either stem.
