Canoe length

I'm looking at a Old Town square stern paddling canoe with sponsons and wondering if they made them only 14' 8" long.
That seems short to me but maybe you could order them that short?

The Old Town Square End Paddling model was available in both a 15 and 18 foot lengths. The sponsons were commonly shorter than the overall length. A set of 14' 8" sponsons on a 15 foot canoe would not be unusual. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question.

The OAL is 14' 8", but sounds like that's not unusual?

Yes, the advertised lengths were approximate. They also were usually the extreme outside dimension in a straight line so be sure to account for the curve of the bow stem and any slant to the transom.
