canoe label identification

Curious about Wooden Canoes
I am restoring an old canvas covered canoe. It was used in the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada area in the 1950's, but I don't know much else about it.

There is not much left of the deck label, but I'm hoping that some of you with more expertise will recognize the label from what is there.

I'm attaching a close up of the label as well as an overview of the canoe and a close-up of how the seats are attached.

Thanks,
John

Looks Chesnuty to me, but can't see that in the damaged decal.
Some one that sees more Canadian canoes than I will chime in......

Your deck label looks like it could say "St. Maurice", in which case it might refer to the St. Maurice Boat Company (now defunct), which was located in Shawinigan, Quebec, just north of Three Rivers (Trois-Rivieres), half way between Montreal and Quebec City, where the St. Maurice River flows into the north side of the St. Lawrence River. Whether that company made your canoe, or someone may just have added the decal is another question - that is, perhaps St. Maurice boats added one of their decals to a Chestnut-made product???
