Scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the thumbnail images attached above. These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to renew.

It is also possible that you could have other numbers or manufacturers if these descriptions don't match your canoes. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

The Old Town build record for serial number 15351 shows a 17 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with red Western cedar planking, closed spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, spruce outside finish rails, keel, and a middle thwart. It was built between November, 1910 and June, 1911. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June, 17th, 1911 to the Barberton Hardware Company in Barberton, Ohio as shown below. This is not a good match for your canoe shown at http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/15791/ and on eBay. Feel free to reply here or in your other thread if you have more questions.

It definitely has to be 5 digits.

I respectfully disagree. Paul has responded to this question in your original thread and we both feel that the correct serial number is 115351. The first two digits are simply not well stamped. These numbers were done by hand, one digit at a time in a cramped area so the spacing and impressions are highly irregular as shown here. I can provide other examples if you would like to see them.

If this is in reference to the "1907" OT post from this morning...look again. That serial number is very clearly one with 6 digits...115351 is the number. End of story. I deleted a post that I made this morning when I saw your reply. My post said what yours did, that the SN has a pair of ones in the front of the 5351.. I went on to explain how to do a pencil rub using a cash register receipt to pull up the extra digits...
I'm surprised this has not been put to bed yet.
That ain't no 1907 and I ain't mistaken on this one........... not this time.
