broken/cracked ribs on an Otca

Don

Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
I had my parents old Otca out for a spin last weekend and had been told there was one broken rib. But eyeballing it, one is broken and the two beside it seem to be cracked or broken. Can this be a cumulative process where one broken rib puts additional stress on adjacent ribs causing more breakage? If so, I will have to find a way to get this taken care of.

Adjoining cracks mean an impact site. If the canoe is in serviceable shape canvas wise you can 'sister' some rib stock to bridge the cracks and keep on going...
