Beams for Old Towns

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
In Memoriam
A friend of mine is working on a canoe that needs plenty of help. Does anyone know the beam of a 1915 vintage Old Town Charles River model, 17 ft?

While we are at it, I would like to know the beam of a 1940's vintage 18 ft OTCA, and the what the measurement refers to - canvas to canvas, outwale to outwale, or other.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks MackyM:

Is your canoe a 17 footer?

I will pass the information along.

Hopefully this is better late than never, I am still slowly catching up on everything that I missed last year. The catalogs listed the 18 foot long Otca as being 37 inches wide from 1915 to 1979. This is the width of mine from 1936 at the center thwart between the outsides of the outwales and inside the sponsons. There is enough tumblehome in the hull that the actual maximum width may be slightly more on the canvas. Let me know if you need any other measurements and I will try to respond more quickly.
