20 Foot Huron Project - Getting the Hog Out

Factory Shortcuts

This beast may be ready for new canvas soon.

I always find factory short cuts to be interesting. I found a few ribs on the Huron that were cut too short and did not meet the top of the inwales. A small piece of wood was tacked in above to make up the difference.

The Mighty Huron

Just to round out the thread. It has been a long time coming, mostly because this one was not much fun to work on. The Mighty Huron hopefully goes home tomorrow and leaves a big space in my driveway. Despite my best efforts, it is still rather lumpy, but serviceable.

I don't know what it weighs. I'm afraid I would break the bathroom scale, but 120 lbs anyway is my best guess.

I'll say this - I wouldn't want to portage that boat very far - at least without a set of wheels.
