The Old Town canoe with serial number 143827 is a 16 foot long Yankee model in CS (Common Sense or the middle) grade with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, half ribs, and a keel. It was built between January and March, 1946. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 21st, 1946 to Eagle River, Wisconsin. A scan of this build record can be found below.
This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well.
