The OT canoe I am restoring has a serial number of 132970. Would appreciate any OT info about the canoe. When given to me I was told it was an HW model and hopefully this can be confirmed.

Benson Gray, the person who most regularly responds to serial number inquiries, seems to be in the habit of doing a search on this site to see if a particular hull has been discussed here previously. Either that and he has a photographic memory with instant recollection of numbers.
Many canoes do show up here "anonymously" but a surprising number are previously known. Sometimes there are lengthy related threads found here on this forum. This is not only true of the Old Town canoes, but also for many others as well.
Yours does not have a lengthy history, but it was discussed here nearly 10 years ago. For these old canoes, 10 years seem to pass in a flash. Good luck with your restoration.
The Old Town canoe with serial number 132970 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, half ribs, and a keel. It was built between July, 1941 and April, 1942. The original exterior paint was dark green. It shipped on May 8th, 1943 to Worcester, Mass.
