Hi Michael--
Old Town 149622 is a 12 foot AA grade (top grade) sportboat model completed between September and November 1947. It has open mahogany gunwales and all other trim is mahogany as well-- this is the definition of "AA grade". The boat has half ribs, a keel, a painter ring, and was originally painted dark green. It was shipped to Montgomery Wards in Rome, NY, on March 12, 1947.
The scan of this record is NOT attached below-- I don't know why it won't attach, but after spending too long on it I'll post this and try to attach the scan in a reply. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See
http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and
http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.
It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
More information on the Old Town Company can be found in Sue Audette's book, "Old Town, Our First Hundred Years", which is available through the WCHA store and most booksellers, eBay, Amazon, and public libraries.
I've attached what I THINK may be your boat, from the 1947 catalog in "The Complete Old Town Canoe Campany Catalog Collection, 1901- 1993", available on CD from
http://www.wcha.org/catalog/ and
