Wooden Ice Yachts on the Hudson River

O.k. not a wooden canoe, but for the first time in my life I had the chance to walk on the frozen Hudson River in NY this past weekend and witness something from the turn of the century. A fleet of boats from the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club (www.hriyc.org) sailing on the Hudson River the way they did some 100 years ago. These craft were owned by numerous river families including the Roosevelts and Rogers. It was tremendous for a wooden boat guy to see some of these woonderful "boats" sailing on the hard water. I'm sure you soft water folks can appreciate the history of these fine looking craft. These devoted folks are not unlike us!
