Vern: The Old Town canoe with serial number 147152 is a 25 foot long, CS (Common Sense) grade, War canoe with open spruce gunwales, a keel and outside stems. It was built between December 1946 and March 1947. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on March 15th, 1947 to the American Red Cross Chapter in Aberdeen, Washington. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

More information about how to value and sell a wooden canoe can be found at
http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?t=57 and by looking at the other sailing canoes listed at
http://classifieds.wcha.org/ in the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association Classifieds.
It is also possible that they could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
