UFO Help....

A friend has this canoe and we are unable to identify it.

Hi Dave,

I've been looking at the pics and have no idea.

The seat are different as they don't have a rounded edge on both sides of the legs as they reach the gunnel.

The thwarts are very different and distinct, most similar to a Racine, but Racine didn't round them smooth (pic attached). Racine also stamped the rib with a serial number. The deck could be a few different makers but not too unusual. Do I see correctly the ribs are not tappered?

The curve of the stem might help, but not so sure it would.

Could be an unknown or not well documented builder, but looks well done.

It is difficult to tell what is original to the canoe. The seat cleat looks new. The gunnel caps don't look original. The stem band looks too wide, as if there were outside stems. The deck looks like mahogany and the outwale looks like oak. Both suggest Penn Yan, but there are too many other things that certainly don't.
