Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
OK, so it might be a kayak but it was sold as a canoe. I thought you might like to see a collapsible canoe with sails. Very little wind today and there was a rowing regatta going on but the occasional puff gave us an impression. It might be quite exciting with a decent wind.

We guessed at the size of the lee boards. The canoe was very slow to turn, do you remember how big the lee boards were and the rudder size?

Did you ever make much progress upwind?

Kleppers are the top quality ones, full of German thoroughness. Tynes are typically British 'good enough for the job.' This is a Pionier, from their brochure.

I haven't had a rig that was designed for the boat, I mix and match. I have a set of leeboards that I believe were made for a Folbot Super. When I rigged them on a Yukon, she sailed well but wouldn't turn with just the rudder. I had to adjust the boards and trim the sail. It was a little scary until I figured it out. I also have rigs or parts from Old Town, Balogh Sail Designs, Sailboatstogo, a Pionier and a MacGregor canoe.
I don't have a problem, I can quit anytime...
