Taylor Lake in Largo, Florida

Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
It was a nice evening and we were ready to paddle. So, we decided to take the 16' Old Town Yankee. We loaded it up and all the gear and we were set for an adventure! Our destination: Taylor Lake. It is known for its wildlife. Also, it is a beautiful and peaceful lake. Surrounded by tall pines, palms and cypress, just to name a few varieties of trees. There was an abundance of waterbirds, turtles basking in the evening sun, and plenty of fish jumping. But, what we were hoping to see was an alligator. We got lucky! We were paddling in the deeper waters and there ahead sitting still was a baby alligator. We got close enough so I could take its picture. It didn't even move! So, at last, a photo of an alligator!

last set of photos of Taylor Lake in Largo Florida

Yes, that's Macky in the canoe....coming in to shore. 2nd photo is of an "Anhinga" bird. The 3rd photo shows the green weeds that were thick as we paddled....and the 4th photo is of a dragonfly....there was a swarm of them and they were landing on the tops of the grassy reeds!

Until next time....am closing and saying "Goodnight" as it is late...and hoping to have more new, exciting, and adventureous trips in "Places to Paddle"!
