Ta-da! Old Town Otga-guide Completed

Howie

Wooden Canoe Maniac
I've just completed restoring the 18' Old Town Otca/Guide I brought home in Oct 2017. Serial # is 174644-18.

This canoe is likely unique. It was specially ordered by Old Town's sales rep for the East Coast. He requested it be built on an Otca form but with the profile of a Guide. And note that the two decks are different to reflect the Otca/Guide design: the front is Old Town's coping type while the aft is Old Town's ogee shape. The seats are slightly different as well with one having round corners and the other square.

I've got too many canoes - so I've posted it on WCHA classifieds.

2 to 4 it seems. Haven't got a heated garage so how much time I can put into it depends somewhat on how long & cold our winters are. Finding canoes to work on hasn't been much of a problem though.

Thanks for the compliment. But in fact the guys who originally made these things were the craftsmen. All I do is fix what broke.
