Restoring a 1936 OT Yankee and steel tacks were used to secure the planking to the stems. Should I remove all those tacks, which will put some pretty serious dings in the planking. The heads are rusted off some of them and some the heads are just rusty. The stems on this canoe are very narrow above the waterline. Any suggestion on what type of tack I should use to attach the planking?
