Something Different Old Town

David Satter

Wooden Canoe Maniac
This is a AA grade Yankee 1955. The seats were gone and the owner bought seats from Essex ind. Curved ash seats. So instead of making new mahogany seats and thwarts he decided to keep everything ash. I made ash outwales and she'll get ash rubrails along the paint line separation of blue and white for the design #45 paint job she's getting. Just thought the ash looked interesting against the mahogany inwales and decks. and everybody likes photos. I'll put another photo when she's done.

This was my first time using Interlux Toplac plus. Saphire blue. I did tip it. Though I probably didn't have to. It went on great, no thinning. Very high gloss. It better look nice at $68 a quart. Actually, now that I'm looking at it , it may be to smooth and glossy. It's nice but maybe not always the best for that traditional antique or old boat look.
