REFLECTIONS: Member Jim Wilson framed this striking shot on the Oswego River, in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, in the spring of 2011. This beautiful canoe is a 17 foot long Old Town OTCA model in AA (or top) grade. It was restored by member Mike Leone. The canoe was purchased from in 1940 and was given to Mike by the son of the original owner. #wcha #wchaorg #canoe #woodencanoeheritageassociation #woodencanoe #oldtowncanoe #oswegoriver #pinebarrens

READY FOR THE OFF: Reputed to be Snake River right after entering Grand Teton National Park, with the range in the background. A lovely piece of canoeing art

Not from social media, but mine: A Rollin Thurlow reproduction of a 15' Morris with a centralized seat for solo paddling and a removable portage thwart.

BEAUTY OFTEN COMES IN SMALL PACKAGES: A 1920’s book entitled “As the water flows” features a small green canoe. 100 years later it’s back for the next chapter in its life #woodencanoeheritageassociation #chestnutcanoe #canadiancanoemuseum

A GHOST FROM YEARS PAST: Beneath a 100+ years of varnish the ghost of the original Chestnut decal appears. The WCHA main forum is a great resource for advice upon research, restoration and repair of wooden canoes. Join up at www.woodencanoe.org You know it makes sense. This canoe is a c1915 12' Chestnut Teddy which came to auction in Ireland having been previously owned by Lady Eleanor Yarrow and featured in her book "As the Water Flows" #woodencanoeheritageassociation #chestnutcanoe#canadiancanoemuseum

Jack McGreivey reproduced Racine Manufacturing Company canoes on forms he built. This canoe is a 17-foot Chippewa model. Jack used spruce for the seats, thwarts, and keel along with white cedar for the stems. The canoe weighs in at 58 pounds. It has been paddled many miles in Minnesota and the Adirondacks. “MOLLY” AT SUNRISE: “Molly” is a 1966 Old Town Molitor sailing canoe, #175540, owned by member Ken Kelly of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Restoration work was done by Gil Cramer of the Wooden Canoe Shop. She originally had an OT #46 paint design, but now sports a beautiful design based on OT #22, with minor modifications. Ken got this shot on an early spring morning on the shores of Twin Lakes, Michigan. #wcha #canoe #woodencanoeheritageassociation #woodencanoe #grandrapidsmichigan

BEAUTY IN BLUE: A lovely closed gunwale canoe built by one of the early Maine builders, possibly Joseph Ranco. Here it rests in springtime clover and the first flowers of the season. Photo by Michael Grace #woodencanoeheritageassociation

FANCY AN EASTER SMOOCH? Courting canoes are among the most elegant of all canoes, and this one is no exception! “Lily” is a 16 foot Charles River style canoe, from an unknown builder. Her beautiful 52” decks are original mahogany, and she is thought to be from around 1915, as decks this long do not appear in earlier photos from the Charles River area. Members Dylan and Emily Schoelzel, of Salmon Falls Canoe, completed the restoration work in 2012, and Owner Ken Kelly had the pinstriping and graphics work done by Scott Signs of Grandville, Michigan. #wcha #canoe #woodencanoeheritageassociation #woodencanoe #salmonfallscanoe #scottsigns

Sailing Canoes at Assembly 2012: Member Kevin Oldenburg caught this magic moment as two beautiful sailing canoes passed during a windy afternoon at Assembly 2012. On the left, Bob Lavertue is at the helm of “Pretty Jane”, built to the lines of the canoe ‘Ione’ from W.P. Stephens’s book “Canoe and Boatbuilding: A Complete Manual for Amateurs” which was originally published in 1885. The elegant canoe on the right is thought to be John Curry’s reproduction of an 18 foot Peterborough decked sailing canoe. For more great stuff come and join us at the 2023 Assembly in July; go on, you know it makes sense #wcha #canoe #woodencanoeheritageassociation #woodencanoe #paulsmiths #adirondacks #paulsmithscollege

Canoedling, still popular after all these years. This is probably a Robertson canoe and his boathouse on the Charles River near the Auburndale area of Newton, Massachusetts is shown in the distant background. #wcha #canoe #woodencanoeheritageassociation #woodencanoe #robertsoncanoe #charlesriver #auburndale

STABILITY: Not quite the straw that broke the camels back but looking at the limited amount of freeboard on this guide boat they are close to it. A loaded canoe is far more stable in some conditions. It depends on how far you are prepared to push it. #woodcanoe #woodencanoeheritageassociation #canadiancanoemuseum #museumoftheadirondacks

Here is the deal...Style points...100.....grooming points...100....Deer and dogs in the canoe...100. I'd have to give them a 5th of my moonshine just for style
