Serial number 124166 18
Ray,
I have attached the Old Town build record for canoe number 124166 18. It was an AA grade HW model, which meant the wood trim was all mahogany. The boat was built and shipped in 1938.
The scan of this record is attached below (I hope, this is my first try) -- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Thank you very much for the information, and the quick reply. I'm sure the record matches the canoe, but I haven't seen it yet! I was inquiring for a friend who found it for sale and might want to buy and restore his first wooden canoe. It just so happens it's the same as my 18' OT HW, AA grade, only 10 years older.
You're right about the value of the WCHA. I just renewed my membership (and bought a Tee shirt).
