The Old Town canoe with serial number 96206 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between November, 1927 and May, 1928. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 6th, 1928 to Long Island City, New York. A scan showing the build record can be found below.
This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well.
