Serial number search

I have an Old Town Canoe.
I believe the serial number is
16 51 1384
Does anyone have any info.

Welcome, that doesn't appear to be an Old Town serial number format. My guess is that you have a 16 foot long White canoe from 1951 that was made in Old Town, Maine. The first picture below shows the serial number in another 16 foot White from 1951 and the second one shows a 17 foot long one from 1952 which may be similar. The 1948 White catalog at https://woodencanoemuseum.org/manufacturer-catalog/white-canoe-company-1948 may interest you. There aren't any known White serial number records from this era available so there isn't much more information that anyone here can offer. Sorry,

Thank you for your quick reply.
Your information appears to be an excellent match with the canoe I have - we were guessing length(16), build date (51), then serial number (1384). And the photos you posted also match the canoe we have. So it is a 1951 White Canoe. And since I was born in 1952 we make a good pair of old timers.
