I am interested in the build sheet for what appears to be OT 11068...
I'm guessing 1909ish?
Thanks in advance.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 11068 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model (which may have started out as a Charles River model) with red western cedar planking, closed spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak thwarts, oak seats, spruce finish (outside) rails, and a keel. It was built between April and May, 1909. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 1st, 1909 to Harrison, Maine. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions,

Benson

Thanks Benson,
I hope that I convinced the owner not to sell it....sounds like you already had him leaning that way. I gave him another nudge.
That boat would be a really nice project for someone. The 16 foot HW hull is one sweet ride...especially the early ones. They tend to be quite quick and a bit tender.
