S/N C9379 - what is my canoe's past?

I have had this canoe for over 20 years (purchased used in northern BC) The s/n is stamped in the stem as C9379. Can anyone help?

My guess is that it is a Chestnut - we've seen others with a "C'" prefix in the serial number. If you can post a photo, we should be able to confirm that.
