Over the first weekend of May a few members of the UK Chapter joined forces with some other canoe clubs for a long weekend on the Norfolk Broads in the East of England. We stayed at Barton Turf Adventure Centre which is located on the banks of Barton Broad and the River Ant. The wind blew but the sun shone and a couple of trips to riverside pubs were built into the schedule as well as a trip to the Museum of the Broads. A great time was had by all. Lots of wildlife around including Marsh Harriers doing their great aerial displays and passing food mid air.
Looking out across Barton Broad which is a flooded medieval peat diggings
Pauls Valkyrie Craft canoe
Marsh Harriers in action doing a food drop between themselves
Alick in his self built Peterborough strip canoe
Read for the off!
Andy in his Peterborough 16S which I restored a few years ago and sold on to him.
The Broads are a haven for serious boaters.
At rest
Approaching the top of tylers Cut at Dilham on the River Ant
Peterborough's as "Kissing Cousins"
We are all looking forward to our next Chapter outing in June or early July hopefully on the River Thames and it's backwaters with the obligatory visit to riverside pubs!
Thanks for looking.
