Pub Paddling-UK Style

Nick Dennis

WCHA UK
Over the first weekend of May a few members of the UK Chapter joined forces with some other canoe clubs for a long weekend on the Norfolk Broads in the East of England. We stayed at Barton Turf Adventure Centre which is located on the banks of Barton Broad and the River Ant. The wind blew but the sun shone and a couple of trips to riverside pubs were built into the schedule as well as a trip to the Museum of the Broads. A great time was had by all. Lots of wildlife around including Marsh Harriers doing their great aerial displays and passing food mid air.

We are all looking forward to our next Chapter outing in June or early July hopefully on the River Thames and it's backwaters with the obligatory visit to riverside pubs!

Thanks for looking.

How very civilized your surrounding are in these pictures. However, I can't get over the scale of the peat diggings to have excavated such huge areas! I'm sure glad I wasn't born into that particular trade in those times, but thanks to those poor folks you have a pleasant locale in which to paddle.
