Greetings, wood worshippers! Happy fall!

Planning Meeting November 7 (FRIDAY)

Time: 11 am - 1 pm
Location: Eat ’n Park, 50620 Valley Centre Blvd, St Clairsville, OH 43950

We’ll be meeting at a large table at the back of the restaurant.

This upcoming meeting is when we plan our events calendar for the year. It’ll be our last gathering in 2025. I’ve attached the 2025 calendar for reference. Join us to share your thoughts and feedback and help us plan an exciting and fulfilling 2026!

Fred is doing great, thanks for asking!
Fred Capenos, Chapter Treasurer and long-time member, is recovering from open heart surgery. By his own report, he’s doing well. He and Aleta are planning on hosting our Moraine outing next April, as they have over past years, and Fred plans to be fully operational by then. He sent me a photo of his scar. I’ll spare you that.

Fred is also selling a terrific project boat, a 16-foot 1962 Old Town Guide. He has done all the woodworking. Just needs canvas and paint. This would be the perfect project for someone who wants to get their feet wet. If you know Fred’s work, this will be an immaculate, beautiful canoe, once you have it done. You can call him for details at 724-456-2190.

Mini Assembly is now history.
We gathered at Gifford Pinchot State Park over Columbus Day weekend. We paddled and yakked in beautiful fall weather on Saturday, and enjoyed fascinating demonstrations of camp cooking, fly fishing, paddle carving, canoe canvasing and much more with our neighbors from the Delaware Valley, Susquehanna, and Upper Chesapeake Chapters. Great dinner and music Saturday night. Shout out to Jean Bratton and team of DV for herding the cats and bringing us all together again!

I’ve attached a photo of one of the more interesting demonstrations: how to set up a camp chair. Enjoy!
