Peterborough Mermaid

It look like a Mermaid
14' long 32" wide max . 1 1/2" straight ribs average space 1 1/2" depth 12"
But Serial #? C10281
Thwart Very similar to my 1959 Chestnut Prospector with the rebate underneath.
Came with the allimunium rectangle prospector mermaid sticker.
I believe the playmate and latter foxes might have been built on simalar forms.
What is the build history on these canoes.

There are no known serial number records available for Peterborough canoes so there isn't much more information available. The identification guide at http://dragonflycanoe.com/wood-canoe-identification-guide/peterborough-canoe-company/ indicates that there may be a model number 1814 with the serial number as shown in the link to the 1956 catalog page below. The typeface on the decal suggests a 1960s era Peterborough, and the "C" in the serial number may indicate that it was actually built in the Chestnut factory.

Here's just one point I'd like a group oppion on.
Inwales : port side just needs to stem area to skaffed.
starboard side as above but with horrible scarf 2/3 along.
Replace just one side or both.
I was thinking of using Spruce, but not sure if that would have be used at all during manufacturing.
Thoughts on that choice being that I might be able to get a piece just over 14' long
