Paint Touch Up on Chestnut Canoe

Hi All! I just purchased a Bob's Special last week and have a few questions about ongoing maintenance. There are a few paint spots that have been scraped away (very minor) that I want to make sure to stay on top of caring for. This is my first and only experience with a wood and canvas boat, so I'm looking for advice from start to finish!

Would it be smart to sand (I'm assuming hand sanding with something like 120?) The missing paint spots and repaint with one of the recommended oil based paints I've seen in other threads on this forum? Should I not worry about it yet? Should I be very worried and take it to someone for a complete repainting?

Could you post a few images of the spots that you need to repaint? That would make it easier to give you a correct answer. As simple as it seems (paint over filled canvas) damage and repairs may require different fixes depending upon the damage.
Whatever you do, do not apply anything with silicon to the canvas. Hold off on doing anything until you have posted images.
WRT repainting, how fussy are you? It can be super challenging to match up the color if you do not have the original paint. Cnut paint is no longer made, but there are recipes to somewhat match the original colors. You might need to take a quick trip to Canada to get them mixed at a shop that has the base paint.

The filler has not been dinged up. Only the paint has flaked off. That's good. I'd be inclined to use a knife tip to carefully flake away the loose paint where it is possible (don't get too aggressive) and then flow in some paint into the places where the filler is exposed.
The paint chipped off when the canoe was dragged or paddled over something. It looks like the rest is still in pretty good shape. I would probably not start doing much (any) sanding since that would require painting and blending a bigger area. Think of this as a paint chip on the hood of your car and deal with it similarly.
You can use any decent topside paint that is a close color match. Look at Epifanes, Kirby, Rust-oleum, Interlux paint chips and see if you can find anything close, or, follow the yellow brick road......Chestnut paints have often been discussed on this forum. https://forums.wcha.org/threads/chestnut-prospector-paint-colors.5303/
