Hi folks,
I'm happy to have been given this HW by an old canoe sailing pal of mine. He said he give it to me for nothing, if I would restore it. So here we are. Its a sailing model, missing seats, unfortunately. But the boat is sound. There is a little lumpiness in the sheer in the seat area, and the usual rotten stem ends, deck ends, and gunnel ends. But this is a sweet boat, and I'm looking forward to working on it. I can't start until the Matinicus is out of the shop, but that will be soon.

I will likely rig it to sail again, with initially, an ACA rig, and maybe a bigger reefable balance lug down the road. But I want to paddle it on trips too. Been missing the old Seven Carries.

Interestingly, this boat was originally sold to an individual in Brooklyn, NY. I looked up the address after getting a copy of the original work order (thanks very much, Benson), and the address is just a few blocks from my shop in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where I will do the restoration!

It can be very interesting to look up the former owner and address of a canoe. Your case sounds like a good example. Chris Pearson had been having lots of fun researching the famous former owners of his canoe shown at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?9968 which led me to make a similar search for the canoe shown at http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=6475&d=1226605573 here. I found the grandson of the original owner who explained that this canoe had been used by Grace Hopper for many years. She was a famous computer scientist as described at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_Hopper and I had even attended one of her lectures in the 1980s. Good luck with your restoration,
