Chillin in the northwoods(literally)
Dave

Hi Dave,

Very chilly here too, but the pellet stove is keeping us toasty!

This appears to be the appropriate record, from Old Town's beloved records on CD:

144551 is a 25 foot CS grade War Canoe, completed from March-June of 1946. It has open spruce gunwales, 30" ash decks, ash thwarts and seat frames, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. Originally it was navy blue. Shipped to Camp North Woods in Eagle River, WI, on June 10, 1946.

The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

Stay warm!

Kathy

Hey Dave,

Are you going to use this one in your guiding service?
Plenty of room for clients. 'course you might need more motor to push it.

Hey, is this the one Ferdy soloed?

Dan

Dan,
This is for a customer at a girl's camp here in the Northwoods. I have to perform the repairs and recanvas/fill for the owner. They plan on doing the painting and varnishing.
Every time I look at it I think, "damn, that's a lot of canoe"!

Ferd soloed a tobbogan today with gear, lunch, and a bucket of minnows.
Our first jaunt onto the ice......We enjoyed the fire and the lunch and the stories, as well as the beautiful winter day. In other words, the pike weren't keeping us very busy. Landed four, kept two and left one for the eagle that watched over us all day on the thin ice.

Border Lakes is still for sale on ebay. Could be a second career for you, Dan!!??!!
