Would someone please post the build record for 178598-15. This canoe is presently being worked on at the museum in Havre de Grace. It came without canvas, with stem tip rot, and a not-so-well done attempt at replacement of 5 ribs. Tom McCloud
I have posted below the build record for the Old Town canoe 178598. There was also a note on the back of the build record, which is attached.
The canoe was a 15-foot feather weight model shipped Aug. 2, 1967, to Washington D.C. It had a keel and was Old Town Yellow.
The scans of these records are attached below-- click to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.
Does this description match the canoe being restored? Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
