Would someone please post the build sheet for Old Town 170733 - 15? Only the final digit of the serial number is a bit iffy - could be a 5, 6 or 8, maybe. Thanks, Tom McCloud

The 170733 is the only 15 footer of the lot.

Your canoe is a 15' 50 Pound'ah with a keel. Built in 1961, painted Yale Blue and sold to Skipper's Locker in Newington, CT.

I've been doing the wood repair to this canoe, and this morning decided to work on the outwales. After scraping and sanding off 3 layers of paint, I was pleasantly surprised to find mahogany underneath. The build sheet does not specify any of the woods used, nor a grade. Gotta think ribs are white cedar, planking red cedar, inwales spruce. Decks may be ash. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Was the 50-pounder offered in AA and CS grades? Does the presence of mahogany outwales on this canoe make it a AA? Tom McCloud

Hi Tom,

Starting about 1958 Old Town listed all outwales as Mahogany.
