Hi Keith--
Old Town 172304 is a 17 foot Otca with half ribs and a keel-- no grade is stated on the build record unless it's in invisible writing (remember that? you had to use lemon juice to bring the letters out...? eh, that's off topic I guess). The Otca was painted red and shipped off to Staff Jennings Inc., West End Sellwood Bridge, Portland, Oregon, on March 29, 1963. It actually says "Marcy" 29, but perhaps the person logging this info in was thinking of his girlfriend or something...
If this doesn't appear to match your canoe, we can try again, Keith. There's a lot of Otca information in these forums... you may want to use the "search" function above to locate interesting discussions. And for any Old Town owner who hasn't read Sue Audette's book... well, you have a treat in store for you! It'll make you even prouder to own an Old Town.
Old Town, Our First Hundred Years by Sue Audette.
The scan I located is attached below. Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at
