OT 167738

The Old Town with serial number 167738 is a 12 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Sportboat model with half ribs, a keel, and sponsons. It was built between June and October, 1958. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on October 14th, 1958 to Johnson City, Tennessee. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

as usual, I can't read the digits

Please include pictures of the numbers from each end and the surrounding area if you can. Threes and eights are commonly confused. The build record for 167788 shows a 17 foot Otca, 167783 shows a 16 foot Guide, and 167733 shows a 7' 5" Dinghy. Good luck,

Benson

the canoe is 17' and light blue. It looks like an OTCA. On one end the last digit appears to be a 6 , so 167736 might be correct. Likely shipped to Ohio. My serial number cd's no longer work-old machine?
thanks,
gil

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. The serial number CDs should work on newer machines. Let me know if you would like me to mail you a newer set on thumb drives. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thanks Benson,
That is not it. It almost looks like an overstamp, but I will try to get a photo. Some of my Ot cd's will work, but not this one. I'll try it again.
