OT 133585

Could I please get the build record for 133585? It is in rough shape with many replaced parts, so I can't even tell of it is CS or AA. It is 17', no outside stems (I think... they're capped with fiberglass now), and a floor rack.

Thank you,
Michael

The Old Town canoe with serial number 133585 is a 17 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, Otca model with open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between September and December, 1941. The original exterior paint color was yellow. It shipped on December 12th, 1941 to Newark, New Jersey. There was a previous request for a copy of this information from Macon, Georgia on January 16th, 1972 as shown on the back side of the card. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. Your life membership to the WCHA is much appreciated.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
