The Old Town canoe with serial number 51606 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, twenty inch birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, and a keel. It was built between January, 1918 and March, 1919. The original exterior paint color was bright red with a gold stripe and turned down ends. A similar design is shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design33.gif which was later known as design number 33. It shipped on March 14th, 1919 to Toledo, Ohio.
