Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 46074 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, maple decks, maple thwarts, maple seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between October, 1916 and June, 1917. The original exterior paint color was bright red with a three and a half inch wide white stripe that turned down at the ends. It also had Tippecanoe lettered on the left bow and right stern. This shipped on July 3rd, 1917 to Greensborough, Vermont. It came back for repairs on November 17th, 1947 as shown on the back side. This was repainted dark green and returned to Greensboro, Vermont on January 14th, 1948. There was a previous request for a copy of this information on October 22nd, 1982 from Cazenovia, New York. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
