Old Town serial number search needed

I'm retoring a 12' Old Town square stern. I found it in a barn less than 200 yards from the original Old Town factory! It's moved another 50 yards across the street where I've replaced 13 ribs and about 52' of the 4" planking. I've stripped and refinished the interior with 4 coats of varnish, replaced the upper transom braces and outside stem. I then brushed on 2 coats of boiled linseed oil on the outside of the hull and just finished recanvasing it. The canvas filler is curing and will be ready for paint in 3 or 4 weeks. It was white when I found it, but I think the original color was green. I figured I should check before proceeding. The serial number is 152008-12. Any info you have on this would be appreciated! She's going to be a looker !! Thanks guys.

Old Town #152008-12 was a 12-foot CS (or common sense) grade square stern that was built in 1948 and shipped to Woodbury, New Jersey. The build record indicates it was returned in 1949, which would explain how it got back to Old Town, Maine. It had open spruce gunwales, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It's original color is marked as both dark green and (possibly) guide special green.

This really looks like a lovely find. Please provide more pictures when you finish your restoration.

The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue.
