Old Town Serial # 89590 17

Looking for the build info for a canoe I have. The canoe is an Old Town canoe, serial # 89590 17. It has an Old Town sticker on one end, and an Abercrombie and Fitch, NY, circular metal plate nailed on the other end. Thank you in advance! Tom

Old Town serial number 89590 was a 17-foot CS (or common sense) grade Charles River canoe built in 1926 and shipped to Abercrombie and Fitch in New York City. It had open spruce gunwales, and oak (apparently, it could also be ash in a stretch) decks, thwarts and seats. It had a keel and was originally dark green.

If you are selling your canoe and plan to use this build record information as part of an ad, please consider giving the WCHA credit for this information on eBay or craigslist or wherever your canoe is listed.

This sounds like your boat. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
